Get the most out of our Mangools review
One thing for certain about SEO tools is that they cover a lot of data.
So, you will find the best way to use this Mangools review and our full reviews of each tool is to follow along with a free trial, (and NO, you will not be automatically billed when the trial ends).
So, what does Mangools offer?
Mangools is an inexpensive collection of 5 SEO tools (6 if you count the Chrome/Firefox Extension).
In some areas, Mangools does not have all of the functionality of its more expensive competitors like Ahrefs and Semrush. But, it has more than enough for most bloggers, at a fraction of the cost.
Each tool operates independently, and has it’s own usage limits depending on the plan you choose.
The 5 Mangools Tools
1. KWFinder
As the name suggests, this is Mangools Keyword Research tool. Like most users, this was the tool I heard about first and initially I was not all that interested in the others. Until I understood their importance that is.
To start using KWFinder, just log into your account, and select the App from the menu bar.
You have the option to search for a Keyword or for keywords by Domain.
Select “Keyword” and enter your seed Keyword, a target location and your chosen language into the search screen.
In this example our chosen keyword is KWFinder. Let’s look at the results.
The first thing you notice is that the screen is basically in two parts.
On the left are a list of keywords related to your search term, and next to each are a number of important metrics including search volume, cost per click for Google ads, Advertising competition, keyword difficulty and a small bar chart showing the search demand trend.
The suggested keywords can be sorted by any of these metrics.
You also have the option of getting auto suggest keywords from Google search or the questions being asked in Google by using tabs above the list.
You can select keywords you like and save them to a list inside KWFinder using the check box ahead of each keyword, or export the lot to a CSV file.
On the right side, your keyword difficulty is displayed, with a full search trend graph.
Below are the current SERP results listing the competing pages along with the metrics to show you the strength of each URL.
Metrics include the Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) from MOZ.
Next are the Citation Flow (CF) and Trust Flow (TF) link strength indicators from Majestic.
There are also stats on Facebook shares, incoming links and estimated monthly traffic for that Serp position.
All metrics are explained if you hover over the column heading.
Searching by Domain
This time we will look at KWFinder.com instead of KWFinder as a phrase.
Now the left pane shows the Keywords that KWFinder.com ranks for.
Highlight any one of them to see the strength of competition for each in Serp. This is very useful if you are trying to find keywords to target to beat a competing site. Mangools KWFinder allows you to find all the relevant keywords your competition use.
For much more detail on using this tool, read our full KWFinder review.
2. SERPchecker
SERPchecker allows you to see the current search results for a Keyword, and the factors affecting those results. And you can target each keyword by location, with over 50,000 locations covered.
In this example we searched for “Electric Shavers”
Now you can quickly see how many pages are ranking for your keyword in your target area for either Desktop or Mobile Search.
Search Features affecting results.
Because Google has added a range of features to the first page of SERP, the number of pages ranking there can be far fewer than before. The addition of Google ads, and “people also asked” boxes alone can reduce the number of results displayed.
In this case the Features impact is low, with just the 4 google ads and a “top Stories” carousel on the page.
You can see all of the ranking pages displayed, along with the same metrics as we discussed with KWFinder, giving you a good idea of what it will take to rank for your Keyword.
You can see what percentage of traffic each ranking position receives.
If your content is already published, but not ranking as you want it to, just drop your URL in to the “compare” box at the bottom to see your current metrics against those that are ranking in the position you want to target.
Serpchecker gives you useful data before you invest in Content. You can click on the “Snapshot” tab at the top to see live Serp results. I prefer to work with two tabs open, one for Mangools, and another to quickly cross check live Google search.
As before you can read more about this tool and it’s features on our Serpchecker review.
3. SERPWatcher
Mangools review SERP results constantly so you can use Serpwatcher to see your Search performance change day by day.
To use it, simply enter the keywords you want to track. You can use the “Tags” to collect data on groups of your keywords for a particular subject or Niche.
Serpwatcher works like most Keyword trackers displaying movement in rank over time, and suggesting likely traffic you could attract from each keyword in its current positon.
You can’t use Serpwatcher to go back and pull up historical data, it only starts collecting data for your keyword after you add it for tracking.
You can get initial results for rankings in under an hour, but if you want 7 days or 30 days of data that view will not be available until the Keyword has been tracked by Serpwatcher for that period of time.
On a Free trial you can only tack 10 keywords. With a Basic plan its 200 and the more popular Premium option tracks 700 . You can add more at any time for a small additional fee.
Our Serpwatcher review looks more closely at getting the most from this keyword tracking tool.
4. Linkminer
This is Mangools tool for backlink analysis, and it is an excellent tool.
The power of Linkminer lies in it’s use of the Majestic Index.
Whilst Mangools review Serp results themselves, they draw their backlink data from Majestic, who routinely crawl Trillions of URL’s producing a comprehensive index of links.
It’s true that with quality content you can expect your backlink profile to develop naturally over time, but getting the process started can accelerate your ranking process considerably.
With Linkminer you can see all of the sites currently sending links to your competition as well as the sites that your competition is linking out to. The first group are opportunities to gain incoming links of your own, and the second are a source of ideas for relevant content as you grow your site.
Read more about finding relevant backlinks with Linkminer.
5. Siteprofiler
This is the newest of the Mangools tools.
Siteprofiler provides insights into the strength of a Domain or a single URL with it’s 4 reports.
First it provides the usual indicators of backlink strength with the Domain Authority, Page Authority, Citation Flow and Trust flow, along with the Alexa Rank, and the number of referring IP’s and Facebook shares.
The Backlinks report show the growth in links to the domain overtime, and uses Linkminer to provide all the individual backlinks for the Target with one click. It displays the strongest Referring Domains with their Alexa rank and link profile stats, along with the most used anchor text on incoming links.
The Top Content report shows the best performing posts either by referring domains or Social shares.
The final report is the Top Competitors.
It shows the Alexa Rank, Referring Domains, Facebook Shares and the number of Keywords each competitor has in common with the Website you are profiling.
Click on each competitor in turn to have Siteprofiler report on them as well. (Read more on Siteprofiler here).
Let’s summarize the 5 Mangools SEO tools.
KWFinder allows you to find terms related to keywords you are interested in targeting, or to spy on a competing site and see what keywords it is ranking for.
Serpchecker makes it easy to get a feel for the difficulty of ranking any keyword, and shows the strength of pages currently ranking for your term.
Serpwatcher makes it easy to keep track of your rankings for individual keywords and groups of keywords. You can see which are performing well and use them for internal linking, or go back and strengthen the content where rankings are not so strong.
Linkminer allows you to dive into the incoming and outgoing links of any website. You can see where a competitor is getting links from and start your outreach to get those hard to win backlinks, or discover new content ideas.
Siteprofiler outlines a site’s authority based on its backlink structure, provides access to incoming links, ranks the linking websites, as well as the Site’s own content, and provides the sites main competitors. Oh, and at the click of a mouse provides the same info on each of those competitors as well.
There is not much more needed if you want to improve your site’s SEO
Mangools Chrome/Firefox Extension
Once you have a Mangools account you can download and instal the extension.
Now when you are visiting a site, you can access it’s authority levels and backlink profile inside your Browser without going into either Linkminer or Siteprofiler.
Much like extensions from Moz, Ahrefs and Semrush, it is a very handy tool for a quick impression of a suite or URL. To explore further just jump into Mangools and use the main tools for full access to links etc.
Mangools Pricing
Unquestionably this is where Mangools separates itself from the rest.
The main Competition is from Semrush and Ahrefs. Semrush pricing starts at $119 per month and tops out at $449, whilst Ahrefs varies from a low of $99 to $999 per month. (both do offer 17% off for an annual subscription. Lets compare that with Mangools
Here there are 3 plans, Basic, Premium and Agency. Each plan has access to all the tools discussed above but the level of activity, and number of active logins changes. All attract a full 40% discount if you chose an annual plan.
The table below sets out the main usage levels for each plan, but in summary:
Basic is $49 per month or $29.90 on an annual plan
Premium is $69 per month or $39.90 with the 40% annual discount
Agency is $129 per month or $79.90 per month when billed annually
So who should buy Mangools SEO Tools
I think it is foolhardy to try to build or rank websites without a comprehensive SEO tool kit, and there are three main contenders to choose from.
Of the three front runners, Mangools clearly returns fewer results in some areas than its competitors, especially in Keyword suggestions. But, from what we can see the results from Mangools are meaningful, and relevant results. We find that we waste less time scrolling through hundreds of questionable suggestions.
Mangools is a smart choice for new bloggers, or established webmasters who cannot see the value in paying up for the more expensive packages from Ahrefs and Semrush.
Of the plans, the Premium plan is the best option. For just an extra $10 per month the additional volume is great value. Frankly the Basic plan is a bit restrictive in the number of Keywords provided by KWFinder and you will quickly need more than the 200 tracking options in Serpwatcher once you start working on multiple websites, and targeting multiple markets to increase your online earnings.
Naturally the Agency plan is best when multiple users and large volumes are required.
Pro’s and Cons from our Mangools Review
Lets get the Negatives out of the way first.
- Three of the tools (Siteprofiler, Linkminer and The Extension) produce similar data and it took a while to get used to flicking into and out of the correct App for the Job.
- Unlike other SEO packages, the 5 main tools are not fully integrated so you do have to move in and out of them which is at times confusing until you link the functions to the names.
- Activity levels allowed on the Free Trial and Basic plan are a little lite on.
Now for a few Strengths of Mangools:
- The Premium plan is extremely good value for money, especially on the Annual plan.
- Mangools SEO toolkit provides most bloggers everything needed to take control of their SEO.
- Despite lacking intergration, Mangools tools are informative, intuitive and very to use.
- Backlinking is still a critical skill, and access to Majestic’s index makes Linkminer a real asset
- Using Siteprofiler to find sites with high Alexa ranks, which already link to your competitors can be a game changer
Mangools Review -our Rating
We find Mangools extremely easy to use.
It gives us highly relevant Keyword suggestions,-
Helps us to generate content ideas
Provides a powerful set of backlink analysis tools.
Displays all relevant metrics inside every application.
Whilst a little added integration and a more generous trial period would be appreciated, it’s hard to overlook the fact that no other suite of SEO tools offers even close to the value that Mangools does.
If you can’t justify the price tags of Ahrefs or Semrush, then Mangools SEO tools represent a trusted, comprehensive value for money solution to suit most users.
Something else to like about Mongools. You don’t need to leave credit card details to start a Free Trial, and you will not be billed at the end unless you choose to subscribe.
