Let’s take a look inside KWFinder and see what you will find once you set up your account.
KWFinder Search Screen
Your first decision is to search by “Keyword” or “Domain” .
From there you stipulate your target area and Language. For this example we will search for the keyword “KWFinder” in all areas and in English.
Lets look at the results.
There are 4 main boxes containing data.
The Left hand pane shows the list of related keywords.
For each word there is a graph of the search volume trend, next the number of monthly searches, the cost per click from Google Ads, along with an indication of the competition for ad space on that Keyword, and a Keyword difficulty score.
Hover over the Search volume heading to chose between 12, 6 or 3 months search history.
Your results can be sorted by clicking on any of the column headings.
Select some or all of the Keywords and save them to a list inside KWFinder, or export them to a spreadsheet for later use.
Additional Keyword suggestions from Google
For more help with Keyword or content ideas, the “Auto Complete” tab gives you Keyword suggestions from Google and the “Questions” tab gives you’re the questions people ask about your Keyword
Keyword Traffic Analyser- Filtering your results.
Click on the word “Filter” and you can stipulate the Search volume, CPC, PPC, and keyword difficulty you are interested in. Only results meeting those metrics will be displayed.
This is extremely helpful when searching for low competition keywords, when you are using the SEO Avalanche Technique or a Keyword Golden ratio Calculator to help target your content.
You can also stipulate words to be contained in, or excluded from the results.
KWfinder right hand Pane has 3 boxes.
The first box expands on the Keyword Difficulty score, and the second is a graph of the search demand for your keyword (in this case KWFinder).
The final box is a Serp overview for your Keyword
Competitor Strength
This includes details for each of the sites on Page 1.
Google is thought to use over 200 factors when ranking pages, but they don’t really tell us what these are.
So, to help with SEO, we turn to ranking factors developed by authority sites like Moz. and Majestic SEO which KWFinder gives us as an indication of the strength of the URL’s.
Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) by MOZ indicate the relative ranking strength of Domains and pages.
Trust Flow (TF) and Citation Flow (CF) come from Majestic. Trust flow indicates the quality of the Links pointing to a URL, while Citation Flow reflects the quantity of incoming links regardless of their Quality.
According to Majestic, a Website with a higher Trust Flow score than it’s Citation Flow score usually has better quality links coming to it.
KWFinder gives you the Domain Authority and Page Authority for each of the top pages in Search results, along with the Trust Flow and Citation Flow of links to that page.
Terms are all explained by simply hovering over the column heading.
Backlinks and Social Shares
There is also the number of backlinks coming to the page. Hover over the number to see how many individual domains and IP addresses link to this page as well.
KWFinder also provides the number of Facebook shares for the page.
Link Profile Strength
Using that Competitor and Link data, the Link Profile Strength (LPS) is calculated. This gives you relative strength of a backlink gained from each of the pages listed on page 1 for your search term.
Finally, there is an estimate of the number of organic visits each page receives from Google based on the search volume for your Keyword.
All very useful data, and all available at a glance as soon as you perform your search.
Each metric is explained by hovering over the column heading.
Check out the Competition
To find out what Keywords a Competitor (or your own website) ranks for, go back to the search box, select “search by Domain” and enter the URL.
On a standard subscription, KWFinder gives you 25 keywords, with the same data as before, BUT adds the URL’s rank for that keyword.
Just by stepping up to a Premium Subscription for just $10 more, you get all of the keywords they rank for.
This is invaluable when setting out to beat a competitor in SERP
Using your results with the other Mangools tools.
I mentioned that KWFinder comes packaged with other Mangools tools so no KWFinder review would be complete without touching on those as well.
The tools are:
- Serpchecker
- Serpwatcher
- Linkminer
- Siteprofiler
Just copy the URL of any page listed in the SERP results across into SERPCHECKER to see an analysis of the pages linking to this listing.
Next, put the URL into LINKMINER to see analysis of each linking domain, and view the incoming link. By dropping a URL into SITEPROFILER you get the key authority ratings for the site over time.
Track your Keyword Rankings
The final tool is SerpWatcher.
One of the first things you want to do when building out a site is track how your content ranks.
With SerpWatcher you can input the keywords for each article as it is posted.
From there you see how your article ranks, how the rank changes over time, and get an estimate of site visits you can expect based on that rank, and the monthly search volume for your keyword.
KWFinder Chrome Extension
More accurately, this is the Mangools Browser extension and it is available for both Chrome and Firefox. It’s a great tool when you are considering the strength of competing sites, or looking for backlink opportunities.
Once installed, it gives you all of the essential metrics for the domain, or for the individual page your are visiting.
Before we complete our KWFinder Review
Lets consider the other two leading options for Keyword Research tools, namely ahrefs and SEMRUSH.
In summary, I find KWFinder is as good as, or better than, either for keyword research, especially when looking for low volume, low competition keywords for newer sites. Remember, you can use KWFinder to look for only those keywords and get meaningful results, while the other tools often provide little or no data at all.
For higher volume search terms, KWFinder tends to provide fewer results, but they are more relevant than many of the suggestions returned by the other two. And I prefer not to spend time scrolling though and assessing hundreds of questionable results.
When it comes to Competitor Analysis, ahrefs probably comes out on top, with SEMRUSH second. So if you are focused on highly technical SEO activities to out-rank other specific sites Ahrefs might be your best choice. Even then, I think you would need to be very experienced in SEO, or working at an Agency level to justify the additional costs.
The biggest challenge in using SEMRUSH is its complexity. Where KWFinder uses a suite of 5 tools, there are more than 40 tools to master with SEMRUSH. For new or part time bloggers , I think that is just too much of a learning curve.
KWFinder clearly wins on price.
Ahrefs pricing ranges from a low of $99 up to $999 per month, although you can get 2 months free (or 17% off) with an annual subscription.
With SEMRUSH the lowest monthly fee is $119 and it tops out at $449 per month. They also offer an annual plan giving you a 17% saving.
KWFinder starts at $49 per month for the Basic plan, increases to $69 for the most popular Premium plan and jumps to $129 per month for the Agency level plan. Not only are these less expensive than the competition, but choosing an annual plan with Mangools KWFinder saves a full 40%

KWFinder Review – Our Conclusions
After testing the top three Keyword tools (KWFinder, Ahrefs, Semrush), we found KWFinder not only the most user friendly but also the best value for money.
KWFinder excels for low competition, long-tail keyword research and the related tools in the package are easy to use and understand.
We found the 100 keyword lookups per day on the Basic plan, together with only 1 user at a time was too restrictive, but for an extra $10 per month the larger volumes and 3 simultaneous users with the Premium package was perfect for our needs.
