LinkMiner Review: Finding Relevant Backlink Opportunities Safely
LinkMiner helps you examine the websites linking to competing pages. That can reveal useful outreach and content opportunities, but it should support genuine relationship building, not shortcuts designed to manipulate rankings.

What is LinkMiner?
LinkMiner is the backlink research tool in the Mangools suite. It allows you to enter a domain or page, review links pointing to it, apply filters and preview the context in which a link appears.
Its current guide describes the tool as a way to analyse competitor backlinks and save the opportunities most relevant to your own work.
A practical research workflow
Choose a genuinely comparable page
Start with a competitor article or resource serving the same search need, not simply the largest website in the industry.
Review the link in context
Use the page preview to understand why the source linked. It may reference research, a tool, a quote, a directory or a particularly useful explanation.
Filter for relevance and credibility
Authority-style metrics can help prioritise, but topical relevance and editorial context matter more than a score alone.
Create a reason to contact them
Improve your own resource, correct missing information or offer something that genuinely helps their audience.
Track outreach respectfully
Personalise the approach, comply with applicable communication laws and accept that no one owes you a link.
How LinkMiner fitted our workflow
When we were planning content, we would normally use KWFinder for the initial keyword research, SERPChecker to inspect the competing results and SiteProfiler to understand the broader strength of the sites involved. LinkMiner then helped us look at which pages were already linking to comparable articles.
That was useful because relevance matters. If a genuine website was already linking to a competitor article on the same subject, there was at least a reason to investigate whether our resource might also be useful to its audience.
We used the filters and favourites list to reduce a very large set of links to a manageable group worth checking manually. From there, we opened the referring pages, looked at the context and decided whether there was a legitimate reason to make contact. Sometimes that reason was a genuinely useful guest contribution. Sometimes it was simply that our content added something the existing article did not.
The tool made research faster, but it did not create the relationship or justify the link. That still depended on the quality and relevance of what we could offer.
What makes a backlink useful?
A strong backlink is usually editorially earned, relevant to the surrounding content and helpful to the reader. Traffic from the link, brand visibility and a credible relationship can be valuable even if rankings do not change.
Be cautious of links from unrelated sites, mass-produced pages or networks created mainly to sell placements. A large number of weak links is not automatically better than a small number of genuine references.
What Google says about link spam
Google’s spam policies identify buying or selling links for ranking purposes, excessive link exchanges and automated link creation as forms of link spam.
This does not make backlink research inappropriate. It means the research should help you understand your market and create legitimate opportunities, not manufacture signals.
The best question is not “How do I copy this link?” It is “Why did this source consider the competing page worth referencing?”
Limitations
No backlink database sees every link, and metrics vary between providers. Use LinkMiner alongside your own Search Console data and manual checks. A link listed by a tool may have changed, disappeared or have little relevance to your current goals.
Our verdict
LinkMiner is approachable and its preview feature can save time. It is best suited to focused research where you already understand the audience and topic.
