Start with the life and business you want to build

The right online business isn't simply the one making the most noise. It needs to suit the way you want to work, the time and resources you have available, and the value you are best placed to create.

01

Use what you know?

Your experience can become consulting, coaching, training, a specialist service or a digital product.

02

Build an asset?

Websites, directories and newsletters can grow into valuable platforms over time.

03

Earn while building?

Freelancing or digital services can provide a practical entry point while you develop longer-term plans.

04

Reskill first?

AI, content, website and digital-marketing skills can open options you may not be able to see yet.

Build confidence first

If technology is the part holding you back, start there

Many experienced people assume they have missed the opportunity because they didn't grow up with the technology. In reality, the most useful digital skills can be learned step by step, especially now that AI can help with writing, research, planning and everyday business tasks.

The goal isn't to learn every platform or follow every trend. It is to build enough confidence to understand what is possible, use the tools that support your goals and recognise when you need specialist help.

Experience behind the guidance

We didn't begin with a perfect plan or a background in technology

After major changes disrupted the traditional business we had spent decades building, we had to rethink what security and work could look like for us. We learned new skills, invested in education and began building a portfolio of online businesses and digital assets.

Some pathways suited us. Others taught us what to question. That experience is why Digital Education Experts is being built as a practical, independent resource for people who want to understand the digital economy without being pushed toward one course, tool or business model.

We will always acknowledge Matt and Liz Raad and eBusiness Institute as an important part of our foundational education. Digital Education Experts now draws on that foundation as well as our wider experience building websites, digital services, online platforms and directory businesses.
